**Next Bachata Level 2 & 3 cycle begins Mon Mar 20th!**
**Bachata Workshop @ Toronto Dance Fridays (1133 Dupont st) Fri Mar 24th @9pm**

Is there a beginning date for each Salsa/Bachata level?
Only for our level 1 Salsa/Bachata Foundation classes, which begin every other month, but please check the classes tab for the next exact start date.

As for our other levels, we have structured them so that each class focuses on a particular concept and/or foundation move variation.  They are structured to be 3 classes + a 4th class review & in-studio show case. Please check the
classes tab for each new cycle.

What style of Salsa do you teach?
Our group classes are linear Salsa On1 (AKA LA Style), the most widely danced Salsa style in Toronto. Our intermediate Salsa class is linear On2 (AKA NY Style).

What style of Bachata do you teach?
We mostly teach a mix of Traditional and Modern styles, with a touch of Sensual Bachata.  Our Intermediate Bachata Fusion class combines the intricate syncopated steps of Traditional Bachata as well as the turn patterns & body isolations of Modern Bachata.

I noticed your classes are very structured?
Yep. What we teach in a class is meant to be learned in that class.  We are very adamant that learners walk away from classes having learned the material.  The very basic tenets of explicit teaching are: I (the teacher) do, we (the teacher & learners) do, you (the learner) do.  Come see this gradual release of responsibility in action. Our focus on proper pedagogy ensures students learn in the most optimal way.

Do I need a partner?
Nope, you can gladly come by yourself, just please bring a smile! ;) We do frequent partner changes, so you'll definitely get to practice everything we teach.

Do I need dance shoes?
Dance shoes help for Salsa, but if you don't have any, a pair of shoes that don't have a strong grip will be fine.  Please bring a separate pair of indoor shoes for the wooden floor of the dance studio as street shoes are not permitted.

How do I pay for classes?
You can pay with credit cards securely through this site, by e-transfer to "salchatadance@gmail.com" (payments are automatically accepted into our business account), by debit or credit cards at our studio location, or by cash in class.

Do you provide refunds?
We do not provide refunds, but students have 8 weeks to complete any 6-class option (commencing from the day of their 1st class). You can also transfer a class to another person if you can no longer attend or delay a 6-class session to a future date based on availability. If a student can't complete 6 classes in 8 weeks due to more absences, a video of that class can be provided to them. Please contact us to arrange for this if you choose to do so.

Do you do workshops at local events?

We do! Our group classes focus exclusively on social dancing, and we often do workshops at local events for attendees to sample that. If you'd like us to do a workshop at your event, please contact us and let's work out the details.

Do you have a special night out for students to go dancing?
We don't have a special night out as we're out social dancing almost every weekend.  You'll usually find us at Toronto's biggest Salsa & Bachata social; Toronto Dance Fridays. When we have a specific event that we'll be teaching at, then that's definitely where we'll be social dancing!

Where can I go social dancing?
Social dancing is central to putting what you've learned to practice. We have our weekly Salsa & Bachata practice sessions for students to practice with us present. Outside of that, the most popular socials are Toronto Dance Fridays (they also have 2 Bachata rooms), and for club dancing Thursdays @ El Rancho (both Salsa & Bachata). Social dancing venues are a little different from Club Dancing:  Social Dancing venues focus on an environment conducive to social dancing (smooth wooden floors, high ceilings, large space), whereas Club Dancing caters more to a mixed drinking & dancing crowd. We enjoy both... it totally depends on your mood!
